We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Marine Scaffolding / Bull Rigging Supervisor to join our team. This role involves working on various marine on-vessel and shipyard construction projects, where you will be responsible for rigging, scaffolding erection and placement, and ensuring the safe handling of materials and equipment on board vessels, platforms, or shipyard structures. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in marine rigging and scaffolding, possess a strong commitment to safety, and be able to work efficiently in a high-pressure environment.

What You Will Do

  • Supervision and Crew Management:
  • Oversees and directs team members in performance of maintenance and repair of facilities related construction and maintenance projects related to Scaffold construction and placement, bull rigging, and general dock maintenance projects.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor the crew that is charged with facilities maintenance and construction projects involving scaffold construction or bull rigging.
  • Ensure employees under his or her supervision are properly directed and have all the necessary tooling, equipment, specifications, to accomplish assigned work.
  • Complies and sets example for standards of excellence safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Provide on-the-job training to those individuals under his/her supervision.
  • Fill in for other Supervisors in Crane Operator and Dock Crew supervision facilities department as needed. 
  • Work with General Manager and Production Manager to promote safe & efficient operations in the yard,
  • Demonstrate competence in all aspects of quality, safety, trade knowledge, productivity, and methods of process improvement.
  • Is calm and mature in all situations and demonstrates adaptability and flexibility to adjust in dynamic work and business environments.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate clearly and concisely in executing responsibilities.

 

  • Bull Rigging:
    • Install, maintain, and remove rigging equipment including ropes, cables, pulleys, hoists, and other specialized equipment.
    • Identify potential hazards associated with bull rigging projects and implement appropriate safety measures
    • Safely lift, move, and position heavy equipment or materials in shipyard, vessels, or marine rigs.
    • Perform inspections and ensure the rigging equipment is in optimal working condition.
    • Work in compliance with all safety regulations and procedures while operating rigging equipment.
  • Scaffolding:
    • Plan, design, and build scaffolding structures according to engineering specifications and safety standards.
    • Ensure scaffolding is securely erected and maintained, with proper access for workers.
    • Conduct regular inspections of scaffolding systems to ensure they are safe for use and adjust as necessary.
    • Remove scaffolding safely when tasks are completed.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Adhere to all safety standards, protocols, and company policies related to marine rigging and scaffolding activities.
    • Conduct risk assessments and safety checks on rigging and scaffolding equipment.
    • Operate in a safe and responsible manner to prevent injuries, accidents, and damage to equipment.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Work closely with other members of the project team, including engineers, supervisors, and technicians.
    • Communicate effectively to ensure work schedules and safety requirements are met.
    • Assist with the coordination of materials and equipment required for rigging and scaffolding tasks.

Qualifications

What You Bring to Our Team:

  • Proven experience in marine bull rigging and scaffolding, preferably in marine environments.
  • Knowledge gained from years as rigger who has mastered the skills necessary to safely perform bull rigging tasks, which involve using a bull rig to lift, move, and turn heavy loads in challenging environments. 
  • Proven experience in plan, design, and building scaffolding structures according to engineering specifications and safety standards.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues that may arise during bull rigging tasks and find creative solutions. 
  • In-depth understanding of scaffolding equipment, including scaffolding types, parts, and materials.
  • Certification in rigging and scaffolding (e.g., API RP 2D, NCCER, or similar).
  • Knowledge and proficiency in analyzing and assessing load weight, center of gravity, and how these factors affect the stability and safety of the rigging. 
  • Proficiency in using various bulll rigging equipment, including chain hoists, rigging tackle, and other tools. 
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and the ability to implement safety practices in a high-risk environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and safety instructions.
  • Experience with lifting equipment and rigging hardware, such as cranes, winches, hoists, and rigging gear.
  • Good physical fitness and the ability to work in harsh weather conditions and elevated locations.
  • Knowledge of Crane Hand Signals
  • Ability to understand and apply basic mathematics.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift heavy loads (up to [X] pounds/kilograms) and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Comfortable working at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.).

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Previous experience in lead or supervisory role in construction or service shipyard overseeing rigging or heavy equipment operations.
  • Certification as a Shipyard Competent Person
  • Experience and knowledge of Critical Lift Planning.
  • OSHA 10- Certification
  • Additional certifications in safety or construction-related fields.
