RPO’s client is actively seeking a qualified and safety-conscious Millwright to join their team at a leading seed processing facility in Bronkhorstspruit. This is a full-time, on-site position reporting to the Mechanical Foreman. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on problem-solver with strong mechanical knowledge and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Preventative & Breakdown Maintenance
- Conduct routine inspections, identify faults, and carry out both planned and emergency maintenance.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical malfunctions, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Replace or repair defective parts and ensure proper alignment and operation of moving equipment.
Installation & Technical Support
- Install, align, and test new equipment (e.g., motors, pumps, conveyors, gearboxes).
- Improve functionality and efficiency of existing machinery.
- Interpret technical drawings to determine material, job, and equipment requirements.
Health, Safety & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
- Maintain accurate job cards, labour, material, and equipment logs.
- Adhere to PPE protocols and promote a culture of safe working practices.
- Report unlawful or unsafe behaviour or activities without hesitation.
Teamwork & Communication
- Liaise effectively with the Mechanical Foreman and other maintenance personnel.
- Support operators and supervisors with clear communication of technical issues.
- Maintain housekeeping standards and assist where needed in cross-functional maintenance efforts.
Minimum Requirements
- Red Seal Certification (Millwright).
- Minimum Grade 12.
- At least 3 years’ post-trade experience in a production or processing environment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge and the ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
- Willing to work overtime, standby and attend to call-outs as needed.
- Physically fit to work in hot, cold, noisy, confined, or elevated environments.
- Good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to interpret drawings and use appropriate tools and machinery correctly.
