Tehachapi Cement, LLC is seeking qualified Millwrights (Plant Mechanical Maintenance Persons - PMMP) to ensure the efficient and safe operation of our cement plant. The PMMP will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, fabricating, troubleshooting, installing, and replacing all mechanical devices necessary for plant operations. This role involves performing field inspections, reporting issues, and adhering to safety and operational standards as outlined by the Maintenance Supervisor.
Responsibilities:
- Safety and Compliance: Perform work in a safe manner, adhering to all employee rules, safe work procedures, and MSHA regulations. Report any safety risks, security issues, or personnel concerns to the Maintenance Supervisor promptly.
- Equipment Maintenance: Conduct daily equipment safety checks, make adjustments, align, fit, and inspect equipment as needed. Maintain lubrication, cooling, and fuel levels for optimal performance.
- Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including performing assigned work area housekeeping.
- Technical Proficiency: Troubleshoot and repair a range of plant equipment, including conveying systems (belt conveyors, drag chains, elevators, air slides), gas equipment (fans, airlocks, pumps), water equipment (pumps, filters, valves), and general plant equipment (mills, kilns, coolers, baghouses).
- Maintenance Program: Apply preventive and corrective maintenance practices, including reporting and addressing issues independently or with technical leadership.
- Field Inspections: Monitor and inspect equipment, taking necessary actions such as reporting, operating, repairing, or cleaning based on observations and Maintenance Supervisor directives.
- Administrative Procedures: Understand and apply warehouse, administrative, and safety procedures, and attend all assigned meetings.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Proficient in writing simple correspondence and using email. Ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group settings. Primary language used is English.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations with Imperial units of weight, volume, mass, distance, and currency.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and follow various types of instructions (written, oral, diagram, or schedule form). A minimum score of 70% on required testing is necessary for further consideration.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using tools and systems required for the job, including vibration analysis, comparators, micrometers, theodolites, inclinometers, and welding machines.
- Certification: Must obtain required certifications as requested.
- Experience: Previous experience operating equipment and performing maintenance tasks is preferred.
Physical Demands:
- General: Regularly talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, and use hands for handling tools and controls. Frequently reach with hands and arms, climb ladders, and balance. Occasional lifting and moving of up to 50 pounds.
- Environment: Work on uneven surfaces, including rocky, muddy, and snowy/icy areas. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

- Union Membership: Candidates will be required to join the Union upon completion of a 90-day probationary period.
