JOB TITLE: Mortgage Loan Originator


SUMMARY: This position is responsible for assisting consumers who are seeking mortgage loans; assisting consumers who are purchasing or refinancing a home or obtaining a second mortgage or home equity line of credit.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists the borrower in determining the proper loan program.
  • Completes the loan application and gathering the necessary paperwork, including pay stubs, tax returns and bank statements, to begin the loan process.
  • Obtains and analyzes credit reports. 
  • Communicates with the borrower, realtor, title officer, escrow officer, loan processor and underwriter.
  • Monitors and updates account records.
  • Submits loan applications in a timely manner.
  • Prepares detailed loan proposals.
  • Rejects loan applications and explains deficiencies to applicants.
  • Responds to applicants questions and resolves any loan-related issues.
  • Operates in compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university preferred
  • Two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • NMLS license (National Mortgage License System)
  • Computer skills required: Microsoft Office Suite
  • Other skills required:
    • Solid understanding of local, state, and federal loan regulations.
    • In-depth knowledge of computers and banking software.
    • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Customer service oriented with exceptional sales skills.
