Job Description:

SUMMARY

Assists in keeping engineering projects accurate in the ERP system. Assists other manufacturing engineers as well as production in developing, transitioning, proving out and executing projects by performing the following duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Oracle Administration - Engineering:

  • Maintains Master Project Data and Assigns new Project Numbers
  • Creates/Builds new projects in Oracle Projects Modules.
  • Enters WBS information into Oracle Project Module with detailed tasked information.Associates task with Contract.
  • Occasionally enters contracts into Oracle (fully trained) and completes the steps through to Order Acknowledgement.
  • Creates Billing Events into Oracle for Contracts for proper accounting of Invoicing and Revenue
  • Paper copy of engineering project packet is filed by Salesforce number. Assures the proper information is contained in the packet.
  • Manages backend process ofengineering shipments from Oracle
    • Creates Packing Slip
    • Amend Contract with Ship Date/Tracking Number
    • Completes Events
    • Sends Invoice to Accounts Receivable (AR)
  • Creates weekly Open Order Reports from Oracle that are organized by engineering group. These reports are forwarded by e-mail to the engineers and technicians. Assists with updating orders weekly in Oracle.

2. Project Engineering and Engineering Materials Support

  • Files PIA’s, Quotes, Purchase Orders as required
  • Issues Project Number for all Boyd Sites as needed

Takes customer information given to her from sales and issues a project number. Sends the project number in an e-mail to all people involved in the project. Sends a note to IT to create the project folder.

  • Assist Engineers when needed for placing PO Requisitions for materials from suppliers.
  • Assures critical information for “new” projects is entered in Global Engineering Project List before new project number is issued to engineer (customer, description, product type, industry, annual rev potential,SF opportunity number (for external projects)
  • Aid in and lead transitions from engineering to production using standard operating procedures.
  • Process/Product improvements: General understanding of manufacturing efficiency (Lean practices) to be able to analyze and plan workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Creating and leading continuous improvement opportunities to aid in meeting the yearly company goals.
  • Solid Modeling: Assist with designing fixturing and tooling with an approved solid modeling program and creating properly dimensioned drawings to geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) standards (ANSI/ASME Y14.5M-1994).
  • The engineer will be expected to advance their skill level to average and/or proficient. 1-2 years of SolidWorks is preferred.
  • Technical Writing, Reporting & Data Analysis: Spearhead writing and presenting technical reports. Creation and implementation of procedures for use by other engineering or management personnel. The development of good writing skills is essential.

3. Hosted Customer Visits:

  • Orders Lunches in advance of the customer meetings and prepares the food table the day of the meeting. This includes preparing the Coffee Station in the conference room.
  • Stocks and maintains the drinks in the refrigerator.
  • Stocks eating utensils, plates, napkins, etc.

4. Office Supplies and Other:

  • Orders and maintains office supplies.
  • Stocks Heat Pipe Demo Kits and keeps inventory
  • Manages Public Relations Email folder

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Data collection and analysis experience is required. 2-3 years of LabVIEW is preferred. Presentation Skills: Assist with preparing and presenting technical presentations and briefings. Demonstration of the ability to create professional presentations and present them with confidence is an important skill for advancement. Sales Support: Supports sales through proposal writing, conducting analysis, and generating solutions to customers’ requirements, preparing datasheets, customer visits, and preparing cost/bid support information.

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or 2 year associate degree from an accredited Trade School, College or University with a minimum of 4 years related experience. Must be able to work any shift, weekends and overtime as required.

Language Skills:  Has the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general contract language, financial reports, and legal documents. Has the ability to verbally or in writing respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.  Has the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and employees.

Mathematical Skills: Has the ability to apply mathematical concepts such as adding, multiplication, and dividing as it applies to discounts, deliveries, obtaining the lowest pricing

Reasoning Ability:  Has the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Has the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Work Area Cleanliness: The cubical area is to be neatly organized and maintained by the owner.  There shall be no material that is visible above the top of the cubicle wall.  No material is to be stacked on the floor or in corners.  In addition, your cubical area shall not be a project material inventory location. Desk top and table tops shall be neat and orderly and absent of stacks of papers, literature, magazines and books.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee is required to stand; walk; sit; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
