Qualified Refrigeration Artisan

An exciting opportunity is available at our Oudtshoorn Abattoir for a Qualified Refrigeration Artisan who is passionate about industrial refrigeration and wants to be part of a professional, high performance technical team. The appointment will be made in line with the provisions of the Employment Equity Act 55 of 1998, taking operational requirements into account.

• The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective operation, maintenance and reliability of all refrigeration systems and related equipment within the abattoir. Key responsibilities include
• Maintaining, servicing and repairing industrial refrigeration plants, machinery and equipment
• Performing daily inspections and carrying out preventative maintenance according to the maintenance plan
• Ensuring full compliance with statutory and safety regulations relating to pressure vessels and refrigeration equipment
• Installing, repairing and upgrading industrial refrigeration systems in line with maintenance and operational requirements
• Providing ongoing maintenance of refrigeration systems to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime
• Continuous temperature monitoring, including after hours when required
• Carrying out general maintenance tasks as instructed by the Maintenance Foreman
• Adhering to all statutory regulations relating to refrigeration and other maintenance activities
• Performing ad hoc maintenance tasks as operationally required

Qualifications and Experience

• Qualified Refrigeration Technician with a recognised trade qualification
• A minimum of two years practical experience in servicing and repairing industrial refrigeration systems and equipment
• Proven problem solving ability and a hands on technical approach
• Experience working in an industrial or factory environment will be a strong advantage
• Exposure to ammonia refrigeration systems will be beneficial
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with production and maintenance teams
• Numerate and computer literate
