Job Title: Refrigeration Assembler

Reports To: Department Lead

Job Purpose

 

This position assembles the refrigeration system of the chamber through following blueprints/mechanical engineering drawings. This position starts with a structural steel frame and mounts components and does the line piping.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

Entry Level I 

  • Cuts copper 
  • Applies Armaflex to refrigeration lines 
  • Applies RTV732 (Spaz) 
  • Sweeps and cleans department 
  • Straps refrigeration lines, bulb sensors, and insulates lines 

Level II 

  • Level I functions 
  • Mounts tanks, drip pans, compressors, oil separators, and valves 
  • Installs switches 
  • Insulates machine pack 
  • Installs gauges 
  • Pipes drains for water 
  • Reads parts lists 
  • Using math functions accurately—multiplication, division, conversion of decimals to fractions 

Level III 

  • Level I and II functions 
  • Reads, understands and interprets parts lists and mechanical engineering drawings 
  • Sub-assembles refrigeration components 
  • Performs soldering and brazing 
  • Performs leak checks 
  • Installs valve panels 
  • Installs de-humid and evaporator coils 

Level IV 

  • Level I, II, III functions 
  • Builds final assembly  
  • Connects major sub-assemblies 
  • Pressure checks at 200 PSI 
  • Does water piping 
  • Checks water piping at 60 PSI 
  • Installs humidity systems-water socks, atomizing, demineralizing and recirculating water systems 
  • Strategically mounts pipes and components, independently without guidance   

Lead 

  • Coordinates work of Level I, II, III, IV employees

 

Qualifications

 

  • Possession of High School Diploma or GED 
  • History of good attendance 
  • Task oriented 
  • Preferred: previous experience working in a manufacturing environment 
  • Preferred: experience and education in refrigeration, including wrapping, piping, soldering, brazing, and mounting of refrigeration components 
  • Good math skills with ability to convert decimals to fractions 
  • Demonstrated ability to follow procedures 
  • Accuracy in reading a tape measure 
  • Ability to read, understand parts list and fill out quality check sheets 
  • Experience using power tools including drill and saws 
  • Ability to obtain the necessary tools for this position: tape measure, screwdriver, wrenches, channel locks, copper cutters
  • A Current, Valid Driver’s License is Required

 

Working Conditions

 

Mostly standing work. Continuously lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds. Frequently lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.   Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 100 lbs. (Lifting more than 50 lbs overhead must be performed by using mechanical aids; if mechanical aids are not available, the lift will be performed by two employees in a team lift.) Detailed work with hands; fine work and simple grasping. Position may involve bending, squatting, climbing, reaching, and kneeling with occasional crawling and twisting.  Periodic travel may be involved.  As needed, will work at a desk and a computer screen for extended periods of time. Must be able to manually enter data to the computer system and understand the screen and images that appear.
