Refrigeration Factory Supervisor / Manager

An exciting opportunity for a dynamic, energetic, and self-motivated individual has arisen at our Thermochill Systems Water Chiller manufacturing plant based in the south of Durban.  The successful candidate for the Supervisor / Manager position must have a technical background, production knowledge, refrigeration background, well organized, accurate, be able to manage a team of ±20 people and be able to follow instructions.  Refrigeration and managerial skills are essential, and a basic understanding of manufacturing is a necessity.   Experience in Excel and other Microsoft software is a requirement to assist with the planning process. 

The successful candidate must be in possession of a valid South African driver’s licence, must have their own transport to and from work and must be able to travel to site around the country and across the border from time to time.   This job is for a person with experience in the refrigeration industry and is for someone who can manage people and get the best out of them.  They must be willing to carry out the hands-on work of production while at the same time managing production and personnel.  Some of the tasks that will be part of the day-to-day job are:

Key Responsibilities

• General hands on refrigeration work
• Commissioning and After Sales Support
• Electrical and refrigeration trouble shooting
• Lead and manage the overall Manufacturing related operations of the factory.
• Develop and implement strategic plans to increase production efficiency and profitability.
• Setting production targets
• Managing a team
• Daily planning
• Managing installations and breakdowns
• Communicating and reporting to the owners of the business
• Stock management
• Skills development and training
• Ensure that the factory meets all safety and quality standards.
• Oversee the maintenance and optimization of machinery and equipment.
• Manage a diverse team, responsible for manufacturing, engineering, quality control and production planning.
• Coordinate with suppliers and clients to ensure seamless supply chain operations.
• Implement and maintain continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

• Ideally 5-10 years’ experience in managing, with experience in refrigeration, servicing and backup support.
• High level of refrigeration and electrical technical knowledge
• Proven track record of leadership and management in a complex industrial environment.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Identification and development of employees with potential for growth.

Negotiable based on experience.
