My client is looking for an experienced Resident Engineer to oversee civil and structural works on-site, ensuring all construction aligns with design specs and safety standards. You'll act as the link between the EPC team and the Owner’s Engineer.
Key Responsibilities:
Contract Administration
Ensure adherence to contract terms and maintain comprehensive correspondence and site activity records.
Submit monthly progress reports and manage site documentation including drawings register and site instruction book.
Prepare payment certificates, quantity measurements, and variation orders when scope changes occur.
Understand and uphold design principles across all works.
Quality & Safety Management
Oversee safe and accurate execution of works, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
Verify contractor’s setting out and material quality through independent checks and testing.
Highlight any design or contract discrepancies to the Engineer.
Relationship Management
Act as the Employer’s Site Agent, adjudicating disputes and maintaining effective communication channels between all parties.
Foster strong client and contractor relationships and ensure all instructions are documented.
Lead and document regular site meetings.
Training & Mentoring
Commit to ongoing professional development to maintain registration.
Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior engineers and students.
Qualifications & Experience:
B.Eng or B.Tech in Civil Engineering or related field.
Professional registration with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa).
Minimum 8 years’ experience in Provincial Roads projects, including structures such as stormwater systems, retaining walls, and bridges.
Experience with wind tower foundations is highly advantageous.
Strong project management and leadership skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of local and international standards and regulatory requirements.
