United Agents Ltd (UA) is one of London’s leading talent agencies encompassing the worlds of film, TV, books, theatre and comedy.

 

We are looking for a full-time Assistant to join our current Foreign Rights Assistant and support two Foreign Rights Agents in the Books department This is a very admin heavy role involving good organisational skills and attention to detail.  A love of books and effective, warm communication skills are essential.

 

The successful candidate will provide general administrative support, including processing contracts, tax forms, raising invoices, chasing overdue payments and preparing rights guides and other sales material. This role is based in our London office but a hybrid working week is available for applicants needing flexible working.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Deal follow through admin - Responsible for all deal follow through for two agents– which includes among other things drafting and processing contracts, liaison with authors re double-taxation forms, raising and chasing invoices, supplying material and/or information requested by publisher.
  • Saving press and other sales material - Saving reviews and keeping press sheets up to date with new reviews, foreign sales and publication dates
  • Rights guide - Responsible for putting together the adult rights guide twice a year for London and Frankfurt Book Fairs
  • Book fair admin - All admin associated with booking both London and Frankfurt Book Fairs, including arranging book fair schedules, Agents Centre applications forms, booking flights and accommodation where applicable and organising couriers.
  • Agent trips - Responsible for scheduling meetings for any trips taken by any agent and any other admin associated with such trips.
  • Permissions - Responsible for all foreign language permission requests.
  • Accounts Department - Responsible for liaison with the accounts department, helping them process money, obtaining payment details, chasing overdue debts and any other help they might require.
  • Primary agent support - Responsible for any primary agent support needed by one agent (this is minimal)
  • General ad-hoc support to the Foreign Rights Agents and books department.


Qualities and Skills:

  • Ability to work accurately at speed.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Positive attitude combined with a willingness to learn and desire to get things done
  • Prior experience in a literary agency/publishing industry would be beneficial but not essential
  • A knowledge of and love for books is vital
