Opportunity/Job Purpose

M+S is looking for a dedicated Senior Business Developer – Transport Refrigeration who will drive the growth of Maxwell and Spark’s sustainable refrigeration systems for trucks and trailers across South Africa.
This role requires a commercially astute, technically minded individual who can build strong relationships within the cold-chain logistics, retail, and fleet industries, positioning Maxwell and Spark as the partner of choice for energy-efficient and low-emission refrigeration solutions.

Initially an individual contributor role, this position may evolve into a team leadership role as the business scales.

Duties & Responsibilities

Role and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and execute the national sales strategy for Maxwell and Spark’s transport refrigeration portfolio.
  • Identify and manage relationships with logistics operators, fleet owners, OEMs, and retailers.
  • Promote sustainable refrigeration solutions that enhance efficiency and reduce emissions.
  • Work closely with engineering, product, and service teams to deliver technical excellence and customer satisfaction.
  • Analyse market trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics to inform sales initiatives.
  • Prepare accurate forecasts, pipeline reports, and performance analyses for the Head of Sales.
  • Support brand visibility through participation in trade shows, sustainability events, and industry forums.
  • Collaborate with marketing to create targeted campaigns and customer proposals.
  • Contribute to future team structure and talent development within the sales function.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Requirements

  • 7-10 years’ sales experience ideally in transport refrigeration, cold-chain systems, or industrial HVAC/energy systems.
  • Technical understanding of refrigeration principles and energy-efficient technologies.
  • Proven success in complex B2B sales and account management.
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
  • Familiarity with sustainability practices and the logistics industry.
  • Proficient in CRM and reporting tools.
  • Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel nationally.
