Position Overview:
We are hiring a Vice President to lead a portfolio of high-value client accounts within the Private Equity and software ecosystem. We’re seeking an experienced deal-maker to serve as a strategic advisor to our clients, guiding them in identifying, evaluating, and executing M&A opportunities to successfully close deals and help our clients achieve their acquisition goals.
As a Vice President, you’ll be responsible for maintaining deep relationships with client decision-makers (e.g. executives, board members, etc.), ensuring their acquisition strategies are effectively supported and executed. This role also functions as an internal leader, coordinating junior deal team members and maintaining rigorous oversight of deal flow, CRM hygiene, and overall client engagement. It requires a hands-on approach, deep familiarity of the software and private equity landscape, and the ability to lead both client relationships and internal team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage client relationships, acting as a strategic advisor to guide acquisition strategy and execution, while facilitating connections with potential targets.
- Maintain and progress deal pipelines, strategically prioritizing and managing multiple client accounts to drive successful outcomes (e.g. LOIs, closing deals).
- Build and nurture relationships with software industry founders, CEOs, board directors, and investment bankers to unlock new investment opportunities.
- Manage, mentor, and develop junior deal team members while fostering company-wide collaboration to drive deals and client satisfaction.
- Track deal activity and client interactions in Salesforce while regularly reporting on pipeline health and forecasts.
- Employ proactive outreach strategies, including targeted emails and cold calls, to break into potential opportunities.
- Leverage our proprietary database to identify and analyze potential investment and acquisition targets in the software and tech sectors.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in M&A consulting, private equity, or investment banking with a strong focus on sourcing/origination and a proven track record of successfully closing deals.
- Established network within private equity and software, with the ability to leverage relationships to support business development and deal flow.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and manage multiple high-priority client relationships, serving as a trusted strategic advisor.
- Deep understanding of the software industry, including its financial metrics and deal structures.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and operational discipline in maintaining pipeline data.
- Experience mentoring and developing junior team members.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including comfort with in-person client meetings.
- Willingness to travel for key client and target meetings throughout the year.
- Proactive problem solver, self-motivated, and a strong work ethic.
- Adaptable to changing priorities, thriving in fast-paced environments.
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in finance or business administration.
