Key Responsibilities:
Program Development & Implementation
- Design and manage a full-scale crane, rigging, and material handling safety training program tailored for HVAC manufacturing and construction operations.
- Develop and deliver training content covering overhead crane operation, hydraulic gantry, rigging, lift planning, signaling, material handling, and inspections.
- Ensure alignment with industry best practices, OSHA 1910/1926, ASME B30, and ANSI standards.
Training & Certification
- Conduct hands-on and classroom training for overhead crane operators, riggers, signalpersons, lift equipment operators, gantry operators, and supervisors.
- Maintain all training records, certifications, and re-certification schedules in compliance with internal and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate third-party certification when required (e.g., NCCCO).
Compliance & Risk Management
- Monitor crane and rigging operations across manufacturing and construction sites to ensure safe practices and regulatory compliance.
- Frequently perform audits, job hazard analyses, and field observations to identify and mitigate risk across all manufacturing facilities and as needed on construction projects.
- Lead investigations involving crane or rigging incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Manage inspection program including annual requirements for all overhead cranes, hydraulic gantries, rigging equipment, and material handling equipment.
Support for Production Operations
- Collaborate with engineering, production, design and maintenance teams to support complex or high-risk lifts (e.g., large HVAC unit placement or heavy component moves).
- Assist in the creation of equipment specific rigging plans to ensure lifting operations are being performed using consistent methods.
- Participate in pre-lift meetings and review critical lift plans.
- Assist in selection and inspection of lifting equipment and rigging gear.
- Works closely with plant managers to identify operational needs.
Program Oversight & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changing regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
- Regularly assess training effectiveness and update content based on new equipment, procedures, or incident data.
- Contribute to a culture of safety by promoting awareness, accountability, and proactive behavior across all levels.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of crane and rigging experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing setting (preferably HVAC-related).
- Demonstrated experience creating and managing technical training programs.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, ASME B30 series, and ANSI lifting standards.
- NCCCO Certification (Crane Operator, Rigger Level I/II, Signalperson, Inspector level III) highly preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety/training management systems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage employees from the shop floor to senior leadership.
- Capable of conducting physical training in a manufacturing and warehouse environment.
