Job Summary
We are seeking a Drilling Fluids Plant Operator to support the safe, efficient, and high-quality preparation and delivery of bulk materials and fluid blends used in drilling operations. This hands-on role involves chemical handling, equipment operation, warehouse duties, and strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Job Description
- Accurately mix and blend drilling fluids and bulk products for timely delivery to wellsite locations, according to job program specifications.
- Perform material quantity checks and blending calculations prior to loading.
- Coordinate shipping and receiving activities, including inventory tracking and daily paperwork.
- Interact with truck drivers for loading and unloading of materials.
- Maintain accurate labeling, storage, and safe disposal of additives, empty containers, and chemical materials.
- Keep the bulk plant and surrounding yard clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
- Perform daily inspections of plant equipment and support preventative maintenance.
- Support job risk assessments, safety meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Train and support new operators and trainees as needed.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company procedures and HSE policies, including proper use of PPE.
- Spill containment and cleanup
- General yard maintenance
- Forklift operation (training provided)
- Chemical handling in accordance with safety protocols
Skills Required
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and wear a respirator
- Operate or be trained to operate a forklift
- Follow procedures with attention to safety and detail
- Strong teamwork, communication, and reliability
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- No prior experience necessary; entry-level candidates encouraged to apply
- Prior work in a plant, warehouse, or industrial setting is a plus
Education
- High School Diploma or GED
Additional Requirements
- Schedule: M-F 8-12 hours/day - daytime hours with on-call availability after hours, weekends, and holidays
