Summary
The Irrigation Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing irrigation systems across a portfolio of commercial properties. This position plays a key role in supporting the appearance and health of landscaping through proper system function, plant-specific watering needs, and compliance with local regulations.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair multi-zone and two-wire irrigation systems, including valves, wiring, heads, and controllers
  • Program and maintain timers to align with local watering restrictions, ensuring rain sensors are installed and operational
  • Maintain and service submersible wells, pressure tanks, pressure switches, rust inhibitor systems, and related components
  • Install, maintain, and repair drip and micro irrigation systems
  • Interpret irrigation design plans and adjust systems based on plant material and coverage requirements
  • Collaborate with construction teams to oversee new system installations and ensure adequate coverage
  • Coordinate with landscaping vendors and internal teams to schedule and prioritize repairs
  • Maintain accurate records of programming, inspections, repairs, and inventory
  • Respond to emergency service needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Ensure all work meets safety standards and local codes

Qualifications

  • Valid Florida driver’s license
  • 3–4 years of hands-on irrigation experience, preferably in a commercial setting
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with two-wire systems and advanced irrigation technology
  • Knowledge of PVC piping (up to 6"), drip and micro irrigation, and controllers such as Tucor, Hunter, and Rainbird
  • Familiarity with well systems, pressure components, and rust inhibitor equipment
  • Ability to read irrigation plans and understand plant-specific watering needs
  • Comfortable working outdoors year-round and capable of working independently or as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Flexible availability for emergency repairs when needed

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and operate irrigation tools and equipment
  • Manual dexterity to handle small system components
  • Ability to kneel, bend, dig, and work outdoors for extended periods
  • Comfortable driving between properties and working at low heights when necessary
