Junior Project Manager
Job Description
Objective
The Junior Project Manager will work directly with the Director
of Operations and the Operations projects team in Grenada to
assist in documenting, coordinating and management Operations and Capital Projects. The Junior Project Manager will drive projects to completion within schedule
and budget, keep documented progress and reports of all projects, and provide support to project stakeholders.
Essential Functions:
- Assist in structure and management the portfolio of Operations projects and initiatives
- Work with Director to develop and maintain program schedule and integrated project plan
- Identify and manage project and/or program issues
- Work with contractors to organize schedules
- Help to provide thorough project management for larger Operations initiatives as required
- Effectively guide project teams through project management processes and methodologies
- Utilize project management software and tools to ensure seamless project delivery
- Exhibit the ability to be flexible in the project management process as specific requirements change and evolve
- Present project details, scope, etc., to the Director
- Determine process or systems bottlenecks and work cross functionally to remove roadblocks
- Assist in financial management by developing project budgets
- Track program and project level financials
- Work with associated leadership teams to ensure the overall Operations Portfolio remains on track
- Track and report on project portfolio performance and provide status reports
- Provide updates on deliverables and critical milestones
- Manage third-party partner and vendor relationships
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent communication, leadership, problem solving, analytical and teaming skills
- Knowledge of Project management tools and processes
- Understanding of project management process knowledge in all phases of the project lifecycle
- Ability to mediate issues for senior management, staff, and consultants
- Ability to work with external clients and managing client relationships
Work Environment/Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- The position is not strictly an office position and requires regular site inspections.
- Would be required to wear hard hat and different types of PPE from time to time.
Hours and Travel
- Due to the nature of the position, working hours will be flexible and dependent on university needs. However, the expectation is that in general, working
hours will average 40 hours per week.
As a condition of the acceptance of the position it is understood that there
will be calls due to events that can come at any hour of any day. The University expects that the Junior Project Manager will be reachable and
will assume responsibility for related emergencies.
Qualifications
- At minimum, Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Business Management, mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering.
- PMP Certification preferred.
- Combination of education and experience including 2 years of project management experience.
