Primary Purpose

  • Install, repair, and maintain all types of air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration equipment to ensure proper quality in all district facilities.

Qualifications

Education/Certification/License

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Texas Drivers License and MVR driving record check – must meet eligibility requirements for CCISD motor vehicle insurance if required for job performance.

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic knowledge of pneumatic controls
  • Knowledge of low-pressure boilers and pumps
  • Able to do some sheet metal work
  • Able to read extensive wiring diagrams
  • Knowledge of basic techniques of hand tools, small power tools such as hand drills and saws, and proper use of ladders

Experience

  • Requirement determined by supervisor

Major Responsibilities and Duties

 

  1. Respond to emergencies after hours, weekends, and holidays with little notice or no notice.
  2. Diagnosis refrigeration mechanical failures and scope of repair.
  3. Recommend and perform repairs of refrigeration equipment.
  4. Recommend and assist in scheduling repair with contracted vendors when scope is beyond in-house capabilities.
  5. Be observant in buildings and report any safety hazards.
  6. Recommend supplies, equipment and parts for purchase.
  7. Assist other Child Nutrition team members in the repair and installation of equipment.

  19. Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.
  20. Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal).
  21. Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.

 

Equipment Used

  • Including but not limited to hand tools, small power tools, air conditioning gauges, volt, ohm, amp meter, ladders, and all other related refrigeration equipment and tools

  • Concentration on assembly and repair of major HVAC equipment
  • Ability to maintain emotional control at all times

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors

  • Strenuous walking, standing and/or climbing
  • Heavy lifting 20-80 lbs.
  • Inside and outside exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures
  • Exposure to dust, toxic chemicals, and materials
  • Slippery and/or uneven walking surfaces
  • Work on ladders
