Job Description

Title: Senior Project Manager

Duration: 36 months

Location: Brooklyn, NY

Description:

Client seeks one Senior Project Manager to work with the Information Technology (IT) Division for a period up to 36 months. Client reserves the right to hire the Senior Project Manager as an employee, at no additional cost, after a period of at least six (6) months from commencement of the Contract. The Senior Project Manager will be assigned projects within the Legacy System Replacement Program. He or she will report to the Project Management Office Manager.

Scope of Work

Responsibilities:

a) Lead the planning and implementation of medium to large projects from end to end.

b) Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables.

c) Define project tasks and resource requirements (specify goals, schedule tasks, identify risks, plan contingencies).

d) Provide direction and support to project team.

e) Work to understand scope of new projects and identify preliminary impacts for estimation.

f) Translate business needs into actionable documentation/specifications, including use case scenarios, models and conceptual design diagrams to support iterative development.

g) Communicate clear information to ensure project teams understand project plans and requirements.

h) Conduct internal project status meetings cross-functional, integrated teams.

i) Prepare project status, meeting notes, and resource reports; keeps management and others informed of project status.

j) Generates innovative ideas to resolve problems.

k) Achieving all defined target goals and milestone dates for the project in order to ensure its overall success.

Key personnel Required Skills

a) Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience as a Project Manager.

b) Project Management Professional (PMP) Credentialed.

c) Experience with Legacy System Replacement projects.

d) Demonstrated understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), proficiency in analyzing business and functional requirements, writing and executing project plans.

e) Ability to define project scope and technical specifications, set clear goals and expectations, prioritize activities, facilitate the collection of technical, operational or business requirements, set milestones and follow through to successful completion.

f) Able to multi-task, be pro-active in project planning and requirements gathering, set and maintain multiple priorities.

g) Excellent interpersonal skills including negotiation, problem resolution and customer service.

h) Outstanding written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with people regardless of their technical skill set.

i) Experience with change control and release management.

j) Expertise with Microsoft Word, Project, Excel, Visio & PowerPoint.

k) Experience presenting projects to upper management and the ability to present complex ideas clearly and persuasively.

d) IBM VSE/COBOL/JCL/CICS.

e) JAVA and or .net.
