Introduction

The role is responsible for ensuring that the Site Manager’s functions are delivered to the required quality and standards and is responsible for ensuring sustainable and optimal use of mining resources to ensure business continuity.

The Site Manager shall ensure that he/she creates a conducive environment for employees to achieve excellent performance through continuous training and development. The Site Manager is to ensure that client expectations are met to the highest standards without fail.

The Site Manger must ensure collaborative teamwork among all internal and external departments and must be in alignment of the company values, vision and mission.

Duties & Responsibilities

Technical work responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all activities on site will be conducted in safe and professional manner.
  • Ensure compliance with the client’s policies and procedures where applicable.
  • Reports to the Operations Manager.
  • Managing of the employees on site and ensure that they carry out their respective functions.
  • Comply with the Standard operating procedures and policies of the company.
  • Ensure that all equipment on site are operated effectively and safely.
  • Design, analyse, and monitor Site reports to give feedback to the team to improve performance.
  • Follow budgeting guidelines and bring about necessary changes to curb costs to achieve annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Ensure accuracy and completion of reports and documentation.
  • Lead execution of operations practices and performance.
  • Conduct monthly KPIs on Subordinate managers.
  • Ensure Subordinate Managers conduct KPIs on their respective staff/teams.

 

Core work outputs:

  • Ensure compliance to all Safety policies, procedures, standards and requirements at all times.
  • Create and update an annual leave schedule for all employees.
  • Ensure washing of machines happens on a weekly basis.
  • Manage time and attendance of all employees on site.
  • Develop and execute short and intermediate term strategies that support the growth of the operation.
  • Reach a monthly KPI score of 90%
  • Attend meetings as per client and internal requirements
  • Ensure machines are kept in a clean and presentable state.
  • Maintain discipline by ensuring that corrective action is applied where necessary.
  • Liaise with client for continues drill space and drilling line-ups.
  • Executive daily approved plan to reach daily production targets safely and cost effectively.
  • Ensure drill hole quality is to standard.
  • Manage G.E.T usage and managing of G.E.T
  • Ensure compliance to the maintenance schedules, Daily, weekly, monthly.
  • Prepare and summarise progress reports for management.
  • Create and maintain good and healthy relationship with employees and client.
  • Conduct KPI reviews on subordinates Monthly.
  • Apply consequence management where applicable.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant Degree or Diploma in Engineering or related field
  • Open cast blasting ticket
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in mining, with 5 years in a senior management role at an opencast mine
  • Should have excellent communication in English both verbally and written
  • Must be able to adapt and work effectively in a multi-disciple environment
  • Must have experience in leading and managing a team
  • Proficiency in MS Office
