Technical Project Manager II - Digital Apps

Ultimate Fitness Group
Full-time
On-site
Minnesota, United States
$90,000 - $110,000 USD yearly

Purpose Brands is seeking a Technical Project Manager II to drive execution across our digital engineering portfolio – apps, with a focus on front-end technologies and user-facing tools that power the in-studio and online experience. In this role, you’ll lead cross-functional initiatives across mobile, web, and internal applications that serve our members, coaches, and franchisees—bringing together business needs, technical architecture, and delivery excellence.

You’ll partner closely with engineering leads, designers, product managers, and key stakeholders to define project scope, plan delivery, manage dependencies, and ensure that digital products and tools are shipped on time and with quality. From coaching tools to React web apps and low-code platforms like Retool, you’ll oversee a dynamic set of initiatives that directly shape the member and franchise experience. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy working across technical and non-technical teams, and want to contribute to the future of digitally enabled fitness, we’d love to meet you.

WHAT YOU’LL OWN

You will lead projects focused on delivering and enhancing a suite of digital systems, including:

  • Non-mobile front-end application technology strategy and architecture – Lead the planning and execution of scalable, performant front-end solutions.
  • React and other JavaScript applications – Drive projects that bring interactive and engaging web experiences to life.
  • Retool and other low/no-code applications – Manage rapid development of internal tools that empower business teams and streamline operations.

PURPOSE + IMPACT (Key Responsibilities)

  • Own and drive strategic digital engineering programs across digital platforms, aligning with organizational goals and product roadmaps. Ensure initiatives deliver measurable business and technical impact.
  • Shape the technology project portfolio across front-end systems, providing program-level oversight and roadmap alignment across React apps, Retool/low-code tools, and internal-facing coach/franchisee platforms.
  • Collaborate directly with senior engineering and product leaders to define technical scope, architecture decisions, and platform standards across multiple workstreams.
  • Translate complex business and technical requirements into actionable plans, epics, and stories—ensuring a shared understanding among all stakeholders.
  • Manage interdependencies across multiple teams and domains, proactively identifying risks, resolving blockers, and aligning roadmaps across mobile, web, and back-end services.
  • Facilitate program meetings and create executive-level reporting artifacts that track project health, resource allocation, and outcomes.
  • Work with other TPMs and contribute to elevating program management best practices across the org, including process refinement and operational improvements.
  • Ensure production readiness and successful launches, including documentation, QA coordination, training materials, support plans, and go/no-go readiness checkpoints.
  • Actively drive change management and stakeholder alignment across franchise and internal user groups as new tools and platforms are introduced.

QUALIFICATIONS + EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of experience in technical project management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or related field—or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience working closely with front-end and full-stack engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with web application architecture and modern technologies like React, Node.js, APIs, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with Jira, Confluence, and other project management tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical topics to business stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of databases, software deployment processes, and cloud infrastructure is a plus.

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Digital Fluency: You understand how web and mobile applications are built and deployed, and can keep pace with engineering teams during sprint cycles.
  • Project Leadership: You can guide technical teams through ambiguity, adapt plans when needed, and deliver complex projects with confidence.
  • Cross-functional Communication: You tailor your message to your audience—whether writing user stories, facilitating engineering syncs, or briefing executives.
  • Detail Orientation: You sweat the details without losing sight of the big picture, and document decisions, action items, and requirements with precision.
  • Adaptability: You thrive in fast-changing environments and embrace the challenge of context switching across different products and systems.
  • Collaboration: You work seamlessly across functions, foster inclusion, and elevate team performance through clarity and partnership.
